Information about Boulogne


Boulogne, located in Northern France in the Pas de Calais region, is France's biggest fishing port with a history spanning over 2000 years. Boulogne is divided into the Old town built within the Roman fortifications and the New town which grew into a fishing town and the port.

With a famous hill top cathedral, beautiful mansions and castles along with the carefully restored town hall and belfry, Boulogne is a vibrant seaside town and port.

Boulogne Ferry Port is located at the mouth of river Liane, just 200 meters from the Boulogne town centre giving easy access to the all the amenities such as shops, restaurants and other tourist sites.

Car parking facilities:
A free car park is located just outside the terminal. There is also a direct footbridge available linking the terminal to the town centre.

Things to do/visit:
Boulogne is scattered with a number of places worth visiting, thanks to its historic past. Of them, the famous Notre Dame Castle located on top of a hill is a dominating feature of the Boulogne skyline.

Other places worth visiting are the Nausicaa SeaWorld, Colonne de la Grande Armee, classic architecture of the town hall and the belfry, Chateau Musee and the 13th century Roman fortifications.

Boulogne also has plenty of shops selleng cheeses, wines and fresh fish, lined up along the old cobbled streets and, of course, the hypermarkets which offer anything and everything.

Places to eat and drink:
Boulogne has a number of fine restaurants and pubs especially well known for seafood along the Rue de Lille Street and around Dalton place in the town centre.
