Transmanche Ferries was created by the Syndicat Mixte de Promotion de l'Activité Transmanche to ensure that the trade and tourist links between the Seine Maritime and Somme départements (districts) and the South of England were preserved and developed. They demonstrated their commitment to maintaining the
Newhaven Dieppe route by purchasing two state of the art new ships – The Seven Sisters and The Cote d’Albâtre that came into service in 2006.
In 2007, in order to develop the service further the Seine Maritime Council entered into an agreement with a private French company, Louis Dreyfus Armateur, which operates the service on behalf of the Council.
LDA have
extensive
expertise and
experience in
maritime transport

subsidiary company
LD Lines, that

So Transmanche Ferries and
LD Lines have now become sister companies. This arrangement not only ensures the continuing development of the
Newhaven Dieppe ferry line but has also made it possible to increase the frequency of cross-channel sailings in the central section of the Western Channel, such as the introduction of a summer service between Newhaven and Le Havre.
